A browser-based alternative to CEDAR Logic Simulator
CEDAR Logic Simulator (CedarLogic) is a free, open-source digital logic simulator developed by Cedarville University professors for classroom teaching. It is a Windows desktop application written in C++ with wxWidgets, released under the GPL-3.0 license. If that is what brought you here, digiwleea is a free, in-browser alternative with a different angle: you build a computer from the transistor up.
What CEDAR Logic Simulator is good at
CedarLogic is a solid teaching tool with a broad parts bin: all the basic gates, buses, JK and D flip-flops, multiplexers, decoders and even a Z80 microprocessor. It is proven in real courses (Cedarville's computer architecture students build a complete Mano machine in it), and if your instructor assigns it you will be in good company.
How digiwleea is different
digiwleea needs no download and runs in any modern browser, including on a Mac, a Chromebook or a phone. It also teaches from a layer below CedarLogic's parts bin: you build NOT, NAND and the other gates from individual CMOS transistors, and the simulator verifies each against its truth table before you reuse it. From there a guided 40+ level course composes those parts into adders, latches, registers, RAM and control logic until you have a working 8-bit CPU, with theory lessons and an AI tutor (Wleea). CedarLogic is the better fit if your course is built around it; digiwleea is for learning the whole machine from the bottom up, at your own pace.
| CEDAR Logic Simulator | digiwleea | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs in | Windows desktop app | The browser, nothing to install |
| License / price | Free, open source (GPL-3.0) | Free lab and Act I; Premium for the full course |
| Smallest building block | Pre-built gates, flip-flops, a Z80 | CMOS transistors (build the gates too) |
| Guided course to a CPU | Used with an instructor's course | Yes, 40+ levels with automatic checks |
| Live truth-table check | Manual testing | Instant, built in |

No sign-up is needed to start: open the lab and place your first transistor, or read the free theory course. The account (and the AI tutor) are optional.
See for yourself: build a logic gate from transistors in the simulator, then follow the path from sand to an 8-bit CPU.

Is digiwleea a good CEDAR Logic Simulator alternative?
Yes, if you want to understand digital logic from the ground up. digiwleea is a free, in-browser simulator with a guided 40+ level course where you build every gate from CMOS transistors and work up to a real 8-bit CPU, with an AI tutor to help.
Is digiwleea free?
The sandbox lab and the first act of the course are free and need no sign-up. An optional account adds the AI tutor and cross-device sync; the full course and expanded AI tutoring are included in the monthly or annual Premium subscription.
Do I need to install anything?
No. digiwleea runs entirely in your browser, on desktop or mobile, and works offline once loaded.
