Like EDA Playground, but you wire and watch the circuit
EDA Playground is a web-based environment from Doulos for writing and running hardware description code. You write SystemVerilog, Verilog or VHDL (and also Python, C++/SystemC and a few others) and run it on a choice of free and commercial simulators, including Icarus Verilog, GHDL, Verilator, Aldec Riviera-PRO, Cadence Xcelium, Siemens Questa and Synopsys VCS, view the waveforms in EPWave, and share each playground by link. Running code needs a login; the commercial simulators need a registered account that has been approved. If that is what brought you here, digiwleea is a free, in-browser alternative with a different angle: you build a computer from the transistor up.
What EDA Playground is good at
It is the quickest way to run real HDL code on industry simulators without installing anything: design and testbench side by side, many simulators a menu choice apart, UVM and other libraries ready to use, and shareable links that are handy for posting HDL questions and for course exercises. (digiwleea is an independent project, not affiliated with Doulos.)
How digiwleea is different
EDA Playground starts from code; digiwleea starts from the circuit. In digiwleea you place transistors, gates and wires on a canvas and watch every signal settle live, building from CMOS transistors through adders, latches, registers and RAM to an 8-bit CPU in a guided 40+ level course, with an AI tutor (Wleea). The free Verilog and VHDL lessons then describe the same circuits in code, testbenches included, and the lab can export a circuit as VHDL or build a combinational circuit from a short VHDL description. digiwleea does not simulate HDL code itself, so the two fit together: EDA Playground is the better pick for writing and testing HDL; digiwleea is the better pick for seeing what that HDL means in hardware.
| EDA Playground | digiwleea | |
|---|---|---|
| You work with | HDL code (SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL and more) | Circuits you place and wire by hand |
| Simulators | Icarus Verilog, GHDL, Verilator and commercial tools | Its own live simulator, from transistors up |
| Waveforms | EPWave | Built-in waveform view |
| HDL | Runs it | Verilog and VHDL lessons, VHDL export |
| Learning path | Examples and links to Doulos training | 40+ level course + theory lessons |
| Account | Login needed to run code | None needed for the lab |
No sign-up is needed to start: open the lab and place your first transistor, or read the free theory course. The account (and the AI tutor) are optional.
See for yourself: build a logic gate from transistors in the simulator, then follow the path from sand to an 8-bit CPU.

Is digiwleea a good EDA Playground alternative?
Yes, if you want to understand digital logic from the ground up. digiwleea is a free, in-browser simulator with a guided 40+ level course where you build every gate from CMOS transistors and work up to a real 8-bit CPU, with an AI tutor to help.
Is digiwleea free?
The sandbox lab and the first act of the course are free and need no sign-up. An optional account adds the AI tutor and cross-device sync; the full course and expanded AI tutoring are included in the monthly or annual Premium subscription.
Do I need to install anything?
No. digiwleea runs entirely in your browser, on desktop or mobile, and works offline once loaded.
